Pondicherry immediately brings to mind vivid colours and neat, leafy avenues. This is, of course, on the “French,” touristy side of the town…

Go to the “Indian” side and, well, you will see the way we maintain our roads. Dusty, potholed and no pavements to speak of. Pondy is a town of contrasts. That’s why this wall by the beach caught my eye. It seemed to stand out amongst all the brightly painted yellow walls. The man, seemingly in thought compared to all the happy tourists, added to its difference.

Note: This is a grainy photo and is not quite sharp. I posted it more for the thought behind it.
