Chengdu’s girls also don’t care much about prices, or so it seems. When I went to the India festival I was shocked…

to see the prices on all the kurtas there. A very normal, cotton kurta, with a little bit of embroidery, like this blue one in the picture cost 458 RMB. That’s Rs. 3,169 or $70!! Around 5 times the price I would pay in India. I agree that they need to have their margins since they have imported it here from India, but this is way beyond margins. And I am not talking about silk kurtas from Fab India mind you (which are also overpriced in my opinion). Tee, Voozy, another idea coming up here?

  1. Wow, but that’s really expensive Birdy…we don’t pay that much for Indian kurtis even here in Toronto and we’re a much longer way from India than China is! And is there a tax on top of that? Just curious!
