After all my thoughts on Devbagh, here is some info on how to get there. I know there are tons of sites already detailing the same, but here’s my two pence anyway. I took the VRL bus, booked through Redbus, starting at 8.15 pm from Majestic and scheduled to reach Karwar by 7.00 am or so. I had booked my cottage with Jungle Lodges . You need to book at least two weeks in advance because there is always a mad rush for Devbagh and during peak seasons at least three weeks before.
Devbagh is not an ideal place for families with small kids, in my opinion, because they would get bored with the lack of activity, unless they enjoy playing in the sand for a long time. There are of course water sports options like kayaking and boat rides but this is my opinion. There were a couple of families there with small kids aged between 4 and 9 and they were cranky from boredom as far as I could make out. Carry loads of sunscreen as the woods are only upto the beach and after that its white hot sun. There are no beach umbrellas although a few beach deck chairs are put up at the edge where the woods end and beach begins.
Ah, and if you like to munch on snacks during the day please buy it beforehand in Bangalore because the resort does not stock on popular stuff like chips or biscuits. They have soft drinks and a few alcoholic choices. I bought a couple packets of potato chips and banana chips to fill my long day and it proved to be a good filler.
Thanks Amit, do keep visiting the blog!
